Community Minibus Service
After the community naming and initial launch of Hamish Macbus in September of 2022 at the Lochalsh Collaborates Community Action Plan Launch Day, the community minibus has since been available for hire to local groups and charities in need of transport assistance.
Moving forward – and only with the help of our fantastic volunteers – we are now able to put Hamish to good use by running Community Shopping Trips from outlying Lochalsh villages into Kyle.
Hamish can seat 8 passangers alongside the driver, and home pick up and drop off will be available. Seats can be reserved on a first come first served basis either by email or phone – should this prove popular we will assess the viability of running multiple trips per day dependent upon driver availability.
These trips are only available to KLCT members due to our permit restrictions, however becoming a member is quick and easy, just complete the short form on our website – what’s more membership is absolutely free.

Local Minibus Transport Service
While we are recruiting volunteers, Hamish will initially be available for use by local charities and groups who are in need of transport assistance. Please note that unfortunately the bus cannot be used for private events or trips to the pub!
In order to secure a hire, the following must be adhered to in line with our permit obligations:
- A representative of the group/organisation must be either an ordinary or associate member of KLCT – please follow this link for further information regarding our free membership and to complete an application – www.lochalsh.uk/join-us/become-a-member/
- Our hire terms and conditions will be supplied in writing via email and must be agreed to prior to hire
- All nominated drivers must be willing to undertake a minibus induction
- All nominated drivers must be aged 25 or over, with a full valid UK driving licence free from penalty points
- Local Lochalsh based community groups and charities will receive a 20% discount on advertised mileage rates!

Minibus operations are priced based on cost recovery only and not for profit. Prices will therefore be reviewed on a monthly basis.
